Who is Maddie Robinson?

Maddie Robinson has been interested in writing for as long as she can remember. Originally from Fargo, North Dakota, she moved to Minneapolis for college and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota in May 2025 with degrees in journalism, global studies, and technical writing.

Now, Maddie has reported across two continents and has covered a variety of topics spanning schools, arts and culture, social issues, and health. Her reporting experience includes Eden Prairie Local News, the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Minnesota Daily, the Minnesota Women’s Press, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, Healthista in London, and the High Plains Reader in her hometown of Fargo. Perhaps most notably, she was the editor-in-chief, copy editor, lead reporter, and head photojournalist of her family newspaper, “The Robinson Press,” that she created when she was five years old. (It only lasted about two weeks.)

Maddie has also been exploring multimedia aspects of journalism in her coursework, and is proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, and Adobe Photoshop.

Aside from her writing experience, Maddie has edited hundreds of articles for The Daily, spurred growth for multiple social media platforms for the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota, and designed graphics and newsletters for Circle K International, the largest collegiate service organization in the world.

In her spare time, Maddie likes to read, play and watch tennis, talk about movies, perform with and c0-music direct for her a cappella group, Twin Cities Treble, and can make a mean chocolate chip cookie. Ask her about her ever-growing snow globe collection.
